Lovlet is a private space for two people: your day count, a daily question, memories, notes and plans, shared only with your partner. It is in an early test phase. This page explains what we store, why, where it goes, and how to take it with you or delete it.
In short: what you share is visible only to you and your partner. No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and we never sell your data or use your content to train AI.
Who is responsible
Lovlet is run by William Westerberg, an individual in Sweden, who is responsible for your personal data (the "controller" under the GDPR). Questions, requests and complaints: support@lovlet.app.
What we store
- Your account: a sign-in identifier from Apple, the email address Apple gives us (this can be a private relay address you choose), and your display name. When you're signed in, the app keeps a sign-in key in your phone's secure storage; we store only a scrambled version of it.
- Your couple: that you two are paired, the date you got together, your time zone, and your life phase if you choose one.
- What you create together: answers to the daily question, love notes, moods, "thinking of you", drawings, memories with photos, voice clips and place names, the bucket list, the partner handbook (for example your birthday, sizes and allergies, if you fill them in), time capsules, check-ins, dreams and savings goals, countdowns, secret dates, quiz answers and game choices.
- Today's photo: shown to your partner and deleted after about a day.
- Your wish list: what you save about things your partner wants. Only you see it.
- Map pins: your phone looks up places with Apple Maps; we store only the pin you choose for a place. We never collect where you are.
- "After dark": whether you turned it on, and when you confirmed you are 18 or older.
- Long distance: your own time zone and when you mark yourself as asleep.
- Notifications, if you turn them on: a technical address for your phone from the push service, which kinds of notification you want, and when you want the daily reminder.
- On your phone: your theme, app icon choice and a few "already shown" markers, in the app's own storage.
Touch (holding the screen so your partner feels it) is passed on live and never stored.
We don't use analytics or tracking, we don't collect your location or contacts, and there is no advertising.
Who can see it
Only you and your partner, with these limits:
- Your partner's answer to today's question stays hidden until you have answered.
- Your wish list is only ever shown to you.
- Quiz results show only when you have both finished.
- The person who runs Lovlet does not look at your content, unless you ask for help or the law requires it.
Why, and on what legal basis
| What | Why | Legal basis (GDPR art. 6) |
|---|---|---|
| Your account and everything you two create | To provide the app you signed up for | Our agreement with you, 6(1)(b) |
| Notifications and "After dark" | Only if you turn them on; you can turn them off any time | Your consent, 6(1)(a) |
| Error logs and backups | To keep Lovlet running and restore it if something breaks | Our legitimate interest, 6(1)(f) |
Some things you may choose to write down, such as allergies in the handbook, can be health information. You add them only if you want to, for your partner to see, and you can remove them any time.
Where we rely on legitimate interest, you can object (see "Your rights").
Who handles data for us
These services handle data so that Lovlet works:
- Cloudflare hosts the app, the database and the photos and voice clips. The database and files are stored in Western Europe. Cloudflare also forwards email sent to support@lovlet.app.
- Google (Gmail) receives email sent to support@lovlet.app, so the person who runs Lovlet can answer it. Google may process this in the United States.
- Expo passes notifications on to Apple. It sees your phone's push address and the notification text. Lock-screen texts never contain what you wrote, only things like "Elin sent you a note". Expo is based in the United States.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple, delivers notifications, and provides the map and place search on your phone.
Each of these services handles data only to provide its part of Lovlet, under its own data processing terms, and protects it at least as well as this page describes. Transfers to the United States rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Our own error logs record only that something went wrong and the error message. Never what you wrote.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Today's photo is deleted after about a day.
When you delete your account, everything you made is deleted straight away, including photos and voice clips. What your partner made stays with them, and they see that you left. When the last person leaves, the whole shared space is deleted.
Backups are the exception: Cloudflare keeps restore points of the database for up to 30 days. Deleted data disappears from them as they are replaced.
Your rights
- Get a copy: Settings → Download everything gives you all of it as a file.
- Delete everything: Settings → Delete my account.
- Anything else: to ask what we have about you, correct it, restrict how we use it, or object to a use based on legitimate interest, email support@lovlet.app. We answer within a month.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se) or to the data protection authority where you live.
Age
Lovlet is for people aged 16 and over. The optional "After dark" pack is only for adults and opens only when both partners confirm they are 18 or older and turn it on.
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, we tell you in the app first and update the date at the top.
